Elaine Reynolds

Elaine earned a degree in dietetics and food administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and completed her dietetic internship at UC San Francisco. With 30 years’ experience, she has worked with adults and children while employed at Mercy Medical Group-Sacramento, Mercy Hospital Folsom, and Woodland Medical Group. In March of 2017, Elaine started her own private practice, New Directions Diabetes Education Services. She was instrumental in Plante Wellness obtaining accreditation as a American Association of Diabetes Educators Diabetes Self-Management program. With accreditation, Medicare and many health insurances pay the full cost for these specialized services.

Elaine has a passion for working with people living with diabetes. She has a family history of Type 2 diabetes and lost a dear friend at the age of 38 from complications of Type 1. She feels it is an honor and privilege to help patients create their own self-management plans to promote lifelong wellness. Elaine has compassion for her patients who make ongoing adjustments to self- care throughout their lives.

She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, American Association of Diabetes Educators, and the American Diabetes Association. She volunteers with the local chapters of the American Diabetes Association and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Elaine lives in El Dorado Hills with her husband. Her adult sons and daughters-in-law live in the Sacramento region. She enjoys cooking, walking with her Golden Retriever, hiking, and mentoring young mothers.
